AFL-1000
OPTICALLY ISOLATED
REMOTE DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM

Both
parts are interconnected via an RS-232 interface (for system initialization)
and an optical fiber. The data acquisition unit is a stand alone unit, operated
from a single +5V power supply. It can also run on batteries. It can be placed
at a distance of up to 12 Km (0.63 mile) from the host PC compatible computer.
The PC interface card, with its accompanied software, will save the samples
to your hard drive. This interface card contains an onboard FIFO buffer, in
sizes of 128K - 2048K, that allows you to sample at the maximum rate, independently
of the host speed.
The optical isolation between the measuring unit and the host PC is ideal for acquiring
low level signal, in industrial and medical applications, since it eliminates
ground-loop problems, and no noise is transferred to the measurement system
caused by long cables or noise generated from the power supply of the PC.
This unit is guaranteed to have noise levels of less than ±1 LSB. By
removing a switch on the back panel, you may switch the channels to a general
purpose data acquisition system with an input range of ±3V or ±10V,
for connecting to other analog instruments.
The AFL-1000 is supported by DOS software, capable of showing the signals in real
time, changing the sampling rate selecting ext. trigger and clock and acquiring
data files. The system comes with a software driver for National Instrument's
"LAB WINDOWS" software, thus enabling the user to control and sample
ta from this unit, as well as from other laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscope,
D/A-A/D cards, digital I/O, function generators etc.)
Up to 8 units of the AFL-1000 may be connected to a single PC computer, for configurations
of up to 128 channels.
There are two optional input modules for the AFL-1000, from which you select according
to your specific application (see pictures above).
